What is a Standard Account?
Standard accounts offer a set number of logins. Any logins left over in your account this school year will carry over to next year; they don't expire. One login enables a student to write one test. If a student wants to write more than one test, they will have to login separately each time. Anyone can purchase any size standard account package.
What is a Personal Unlimited Account?
Personal unlimited accounts are valid for one full year from the time of purchase or renewal. They provide an unlimited number of tests to be written for the duration of the year.
How exactly do personal unlimited accounts work?
An unlimited account, like a standard account, will give you access to all resources on ExamBank. You do not need to purchase different accounts for different grades or subject levels - you can use a single account for everything.
What is considered to be the yearly term?
This is simply 365 days from the time the account is created, or in the case of renewals, 365 days from the time your current unlimited account expires - it is not linked to a specific school or calendar year. As a result, there is no need to ensure that unlimited accounts are created at the beginning of September to get the maximum value - it will simply operate for a year after it is purchased.
Are there any limits to the use of a personal unlimited account?
The intent of a personal account is that a single family can use an unlimited ExamBank account as much as they want. To this end, we allow a personal unlimited account to be used on up to 5 devices.
If you try to access your personal unlimited ExamBank account on more than 5 devices, you will be given a message that you have exceeded your device limit. If this happens, you can go into your "Account Admin" area, click on "View personal unlimited account usage", and see a list of devices currently associated with your account. You can use this list to identify a device that hasn't been used in awhile and remove it so you can then use your account on another device.
Note that you can only remove one device from your account every 24 hours.
What if I keep seeing the "Device Limit Reached" message?
If you see the "Device Limit Reached" message frequently, and are on a device that you know has been used to access ExamBank in the past, there are a few reasons why this might be the case.
- You may be using a different web browser than you did before. Different web browsers are considered different devices, even if they are on the same computer.
- You may have cookies turned off or disabled. For ExamBank to identify that a device is one it has seen before, cookies must be turned on. If you are not sure how to do this, do a Google search for how to turn on cookies in your specific web browser.
- You may be using your browser's "private browsing" or "incognito" mode. When you do this, every time you access ExamBank, you will appear to be coming from a new device. Ensure that you are visiting ExamBank with your web browser's "normal" mode.
How are account renewals handled?
At any time, you may wish to extend your unlimited account, even before your current unlimited account expires. Renewing early simply adds an additional year on to the end of your current term. In this way, you can ensure that your account is always active, without having to wait until the last minute to renew.
What is a School Unlimited Account?
School unlimited accounts are valid for one full year from the time of purchase or renewal. They provide an unlimited number of tests to be written from school or home for the duration of the year.
How exactly do school unlimited accounts work?
An unlimited account is exactly that - students can use ExamBank as much as they like from school or from home. Since the account is intended to be used only by students attending your school, though we don't restrict access in any way, we do monitor the amount of activity occurring from IP addresses not associated with your school - indicative of students using the resource from home. This is so that if home use suddenly surges in activity, we can check and see if the username and password from your account is being shared online with students not attending your school. In such a case, we may ask that you change your password for students at your school to continue to use the resource from home.

How is the number of students designated?
The cost of an unlimited account is based on the total number of students enrolled in your school from Grades 3 to 12 at the time the account is created. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 2 can use unlimited ExamBank accounts for free! If your enrollment changes throughout the year, this has no bearing on the cost of an account.
If you are setting up or renewing an unlimited account over the summer or such time when accurate enrollment numbers are not yet available, we ask that you base the number of students on what your last enrollment was (at the end of June during the previous school year).
What if we have less than 100 students?
First, keep in mind that the total enrollment for your school from Grades 3 to 12 is to be considered. But even if you still have less, we consider 100 students to be the minimum to qualify for an unlimited account. Of course, you can still set up an unlimited account for 100 students at $3.00 each for a total of $300 if you wish, even if you have less students than this. Or you may want to investigate our standard account pricing options as an alternative.

What if we have an existing standard account?
If you have a substantial number of logins remaining in a standard account and would like to consider switching to an unlimited account, let us know. Depending on the situation, we may be able to credit you the value of some or all of your unused logins towards the purchase of your unlimited account.
What if I have more questions?
If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact us by phone at 780-961-2213 (Edmonton local) or 1-83-EXAMBANK (1-833-926-2265, toll-free elsewhere). We can also be reached by email at support@exambank.com.
How do I see my account details?
To view your account usage or purchase history, click on Account Admin and enter your username and administrative password. You may also update your password or contact information if needed.
What can I do if I forgot my username and/or password?
If you forget your account information, you can have a reminder emailed to you.
Can my username and password be shared?
Yes! You can share your logins with anyone you choose, and they can open practice tests from your account too. Schools share the same username and password with the entire student body in most cases. The password can be changed at any time if you want to prevent others from using your logins. Keep in mind that if you choose to share your password with friends or fellow students, then you will be sharing your quota. Once the quota is used up by writing practice exams, you will have to purchase more if you wish to continue studying with ExamBank. So be careful who you share your account information with!
Can I try it before I buy it?
You can certainly try a demo test, but keep in mind that it is randomly generated from our entire database of questions, and not specific to a grade level or subject. Naturally, with a real account, you can access the specific grade level and subject area that you wish to practice, or even narrow down on a single unit of a particular subject.
What happens when I run out of logins?
If you have a standard account and all of the logins you've purchased have been consumed, students will receive a message when attempting to log in that tells them their quota has been depleted. You can add more logins at any time, or if you choose not to, your account will sit dormant until you do. You may also want to look into our unlimited account options, which provide unrestricted access for one calendar year.
Where do the questions come from?
Teachers who are specialists in their particular subject matter write the questions and explanations you'll find on ExamBank. These teachers are familiar with the curriculum and what's being taught in classroom, which is what our practice tests are all about!
What if nothing happens when I click on a "Start Test" button?
You likely have a pop-up window blocker installed on your computer, and rather than have it configured to just block windows that pop up automatically, it is configured to stop any new windows from opening. Exambank tries to open a new window every time you click on a "Start Test" button. If you click on "Start Test" and nothing appears to happen, simply add alberta.exambank.com to your pop-up blockers trusted sites list.
Are usernames and passwords case sensitive?
No, they are not. When you create an account, your username and password is automatically converted to lower case, but you can use upper or lower case to log in.
Will more questions be added to the site?
We are constantly adding more questions and exams to the site, while ensuring that the questions we have available are appropriate for what is required by the ever-changing Alberta curriculum. We have practice exams available for most academic subject areas for all levels from Kindergarten to Grade 12, so there are practice resources available for everyone. Check back often!
Can the questions in the online tests be printed, photocopied, or otherwise redistributed?
ExamBank deliberately keeps the costs for using our online service lower than photocopying. In addition, the tests are all self-marking, randomized and are accompanied by helpful explanations once corrected. This helps keep students more interested in preparing for exams than traditional paper methods, while at the same time reducing teacher workload.
But with that said, we understand that in some instances it isn't practical to have students do the exams in front of the computer. Or perhaps, as a teacher, you would like to go over a single exam with the whole class. If you are in such a situation, we do not mind if you print the exams for use within a single classroom, or display them on an interactive whiteboard through "live" (not cached) delivery directly from the ExamBank web site. However, creating electronic copies of our questions or derivative works based on those questions, in any format, is strictly prohibited and in violation of copyright.
If you print copies of an exam, your use is restricted to a single classroom, and such use is limited to a period of 10 months from the date that the exam is printed. Since the questions are delivered in a format intended for online delivery and marking directly through the ExamBank web site, we can't offer technical support for printing exams.
